The Porsche ERUF (Elektrischer Rufsäulenwagen) is an early electric vehicle produced by the German automaker Porsche in the early 20th century. The ERUF was first introduced in 1900 and was one of the first electric cars to be mass-produced by a major automobile manufacturer.
The ERUF was a compact, lightweight vehicle with a top speed of around 22 mph and a range of approximately 50 miles on a single charge. It featured a simple yet functional design, with a steel frame, wooden body panels, and a single electric motor driving the rear wheels.
Despite its early success, the ERUF was eventually overshadowed by the rise of gasoline-powered vehicles, which offered greater range and performance. Production of the ERUF ceased in 1902, with only a few hundred units being built.
Today, the Porsche ERUF is a rare and sought-after collectible for automotive enthusiasts and historians. Its pioneering design and early adoption of electric propulsion make it an important vehicle in the history of electric cars.
